Ipswich disability charity thanks SEH French with gift made by service users
An Ipswich disability charity has presented SEH French with a bespoke gift made by its service users as a thank you for building its new workshop.
Genesis Orwell Mencap opened the new workshop for its Green Bike Project in January, with construction led by us on a non-profit basis.
On February 20, the charity presented the team with a tricycle refurbished by its service users and decorated with plants.
Simon Girling, Director of SEH French, said: “We are delighted with the gift from Genesis Orwell Mencap, it’s a great feature for the office.
“It was a huge pleasure to lead on the project for the charity. I’ve seen first-hand the impact they have on the lives of the people they support, and the workshop will help them build on that.
“The new facility is a great example of what can be accomplished when people work together – and I’d like to thank all the companies who supported the project.”
The Green Bike Project provides valuable work experience to adults with learning disabilities, who are taught how to repair bicycles, which are then sold on.
Rob Hart, CEO of Genesis Orwell Mencap, said: “This gift shows our appreciation for everything SEH French have done.
“Our Green Bike Project recycled the bike and our garden team decorated it with plants, so it was an all-round Genesis project.
“The support from SEH French and their supply chain has been amazing, and the new workshop is generating a lot interest in the project.”
Work on the new workshop was completed on a non-profit basis with support from firms including KLH Architects, Superstructures, tbf Scaffolding, Jarrolds, H2O Heating & Plumbing, Ace Bugg Brickwork, Ipswich Engineering, M&S Contractors, Brook Electrical, Plasufix, Cadman Flooring and S&G Industrial Roofing.
