Work completes on clean energy business hub

Contract wins and construction progress

An innovative commercial development centre hoped to inspire future regeneration in Lowestoft has opened following a successful completion by SEH French.

Our team has been working on the Nexus project since November 2023 – working to deliver 16 modern business units alongside East Suffolk Council and Concertus Design and Property Consultants.

The business spaces – for office and light industrial uses – are positioned in the heart of the region’s renewable energy sector, PowerPark.

It is hoped they will serve as the ideal base for both start-ups and established businesses, particularly those with a focus on clean energy.

Our Director, Simon Girling, said: “It has been great to be involved in such a high-profile project which will help transform the local commercial sector and act as a catalyst for the future regeneration of the surrounding area.

“The 16 units have been completed to the highest of standards and showcase the benefits of using both innovative and sustainable construction practices.

“We wish the new tenants every success in their endeavours and look forward to seeing the business park flourish in the future.”

Design and planning work on the project began in 2021.

Now complete, the spaces will be marketed by Bycroft Commercial, with Allman Woodcock administering as employer’s agent.

Councillor Paul Ashton, Deputy Leader of East Suffolk Council and Cabinet member for Corporate Services, said: “Lowestoft is poised to solidify its position as a hub in the renewable and clean energy sector, following a series of strategic investments and developments, both by the public and private sector.

“Developments such as The Nexus will support high skilled job creation whilst creating a sustainable future for the town and the wider area.

“The clean energy sector has the potential to create hundreds of jobs in Lowestoft, from engineering and technical roles to supply chain and administrative positions.

“As the construction of offshore wind farms accelerates and maintenance needs of developments grow, the demand for a skilled workforce in Lowestoft is only expected to rise.

“We are delighted to already have firm interest in three of the 16 units, with other units also attracting interest driven by the location and the sustainable energy efficient units.”

James Bailey, Principal Architectural Designer at Concertus, added: “We are excited to complete this project, which will serve as a flagship for the area. The collaboration between everyone on the design and client teams has been effective in reaching this stage, and we look forward to seeing the local community thrive.”To see more of our case studies, click here.
