Volunteering with SEH French

Director and employee news

At SEH French, our commitment to community is at the heart of our One Group ethos.

We are big believers in the power of giving back and in making a positive impact on the communities we serve. That includes encouraging staff to take part in Foundation Days, where they can take a day out of work to take part in volunteering for various causes.

This Volunteers Week, we take a look back at some of our favourite volunteering efforts in recent years:

Great Ormond Street Hospital

Last Christmas, we wanted to spread joy to those who need it most.

Through the ‘Spread Some Joy, Donate a Toy’ initiative, led by a local mum, we collected toys worth around £500 for seriously ill children at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

These toys brought smiles to the children, which was priceless.

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH)

Our team donated two days of their time to help with the collection of 44 Christmas trees in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The sales generated from each tree contributed to EACH’s vital services for children and their families across our region – raising nearly £8,000 in Suffolk alone.

St Elizabeth’s Hospice

Our ongoing partnership with St Elizabeth’s Hospice saw us recently volunteer and sponsor their The Great Garden Trail and Daisy Day events.

The former aims to get people outdoors and exploring curated open gardens while supporting the hospice, while Daisy Day is a chance for people to remember their late loved ones.

Our work at each event helped raise approximately £7,580.

The Green Bike Project

We proudly supported the Green Bike Project, which aids Genesis Orwell Mencap.

This involved collecting old bikes, restoring them and providing training and work opportunities for those who find it hard to enter mainstream employment.

In 2023, we built a new facility at cost, ensuring the project’s continued success in raising funds for Genesis Orwell Mencap through the sale of restored bikes.

Lofty Heights

Recently, our team visited Lofty Heights, an organisation for young adults who have come from the justice and care system.

We conducted interviews with seven students to help them gain valuable experience. Feedback and insights into the industry were provided, answering their questions and preparing them for future careers.

The following week, we offered a tour of our site and an inside look at industry operations. This led to one student joining SEH French for work experience.

At SEH French, our volunteering activities are a reflection of who we are and what we stand for.

By contributing our time, resources and expertise, we strive to make a positive difference to the lives of those around us.

We are proud of the work we do and remain committed to continuing our efforts in supporting and uplifting our community.
