Mill Street
Grade II listed conversion and new build dwellings.
The project involved a full conversion of 16 Mill Street, a Grade II Listed building and former commercial premises into 5 affordable dwellings.
The site team worked closely with the conservation officer to retain and restore as much of the original character as possible while creating a light and airy modern living space to meet code for sustainable homes standards.
The prominent architectural features were retained on the Mill Street elevation and traditional materials used.
Further outbuildings were demolished, retaining the various boundary walls and reclaiming and repairing materials before the construction of 7 affordable dwellings. These were developed in a sympathetic style contrasting to 16 Mill Street to provide a timeline of building styles across the site.
