The project involved the construction of a new standalone three-storey music block, which included two large rehearsal rooms, individual practice rooms and ICT room alongside ancillary spaces.

The location of the building required sensitive detailing to prevent noise breakout to the adjacent neighbours alongside delivering a naturally ventilated building.

To avoid a large visual mass, a basement was included with extensive groundworks and up to roof level being formed with in-situ concrete.

In box acoustic detailing was formed to the practice rooms. The roof design allowed provision of photovoltaics and assisted in achieving the BREEAM Very Good rating.
