Ipswich community centre on track for spring completion

The SEH French team continue to make good progress on works to expand a popular Ipswich community centre – with the project set to be completed this spring.
The project will see a new two-storey building constructed at Murrayside Community Centre, alongside a shake up of the existing centre layout.
The new space will be used by various community organisations, including local martial arts and boxing clubs – while football sessions will be delivered by Ipswich Town FC and British Heavyweight Boxing Champion Fabio Wardley through the Premier League Kicks programme.
Neil Pryke, Contracts Manager at SEH French, said: “It has been a pleasure playing our part in the construction of such a vital community resource.
“The community centre has grown in tandem with every brick we have laid so far – with so many brilliant organisations joining the long list of future tenants. It’s going to prove a really important space for the town.
“We look forward to handing over the keys to this vibrant community space in the coming months as we approach the completion date.”
Elsewhere at the centre, the front of the existing building will be occupied by a cafe – with other businesses operating in the space including a barbershop, minicab service and Caribbean kitchen.
Other facilities include a dance studio and fully-equipped gym and basketball court.
Work at the centre began in September 2024 with the construction of an exterior steel frame completed before brickwork began later in the year.
The work has been made possible thanks to a £1.3million government grant from the Social Impact Bond, which looks to encourage youth engagement through sport and physical education.
Make sure to keep an eye out on the official SEH French social media channels for further updates as the project nears completion.
