BUILDING INFORMATION

MODELLING

At SEH French, we recognise the importance of and fully support the Government’s key objective of reducing capital cost and the carbon burden from the construction and operation of the built environment by 20%. We understand that central to this is the adoption of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technologies, process and collaborative behaviours.

SEH French utilised the National Federation of Builders’ BIM action learning and BIM champion programmes to develop a strategic training plan for employees. The training aims to increase the organisation and individuals’ awareness of BIM. It also helps establish the requirements involved and improve the knowledge and understanding of Building Information Modelling, with a view of implementing it.

SEH French understands that BIM encourages collaborative working among stakeholders. It enables us to produce and work with good quality information throughout all phases of a building project. Additionally, it allows the formation and delivery of accurate and current information in a concise structured manner, which enables the opportunity to gain efficiencies.

BIM Actions

SEH French is currently embedding BIM Level 2 across the organisation. This is to maximise efficiencies and benefits while increasing in-house expertise to work towards Digitally Built Britain. We are and will continue to develop our BIM capabilities to reduce risk and enhance health and safety. Not only that, developing BIM will help improve quality, value for money and ensure the client’s asset data meets requirements.

BIM Benefits

By achieving or exceeding BIM compliance, it will enable SEH French to continue delivering government funded projects. It will also help achieve efficiency savings to maintain or exceed target profit levels, while maintaining a competitive edge. Additionally, it will help utilise the change process to deliver wider improvements and savings across the business. Finally, it will allow us to develop our people in line with new technologies, therefore improving overall service.
